Smartphones cannibalizing point-and-shoot cameras market

The level of clarity and quality of SLR camera imagery, remain yet to be challenged. However, Point-and-shoot digital cameras have shown a 5 percent decline in 2010 replacing by the multi functionality Smartphones, according to NPD’s Retailer Tracking Service.

What is more exciting is the potential for Smartphones to catch 3D photos and video, share pictures and synchronize with cloud and even collect information from the location, direction and object that one is shooting at.
