Google Not Necessarily Benefiting from China’s Android User Base

Here’s an interesting find: While China might be the largest Android device market on the planet, the people there aren’t necessarily using the platform in a way that benefits Google. A chart produced by Benedict Evans (using data from Umeng Analytics Platform) reveals that only 5.6% of China’s total Android app installs are from Google Play. Third party app stores, which Google does not generate any revenue from, account for nearly 73% of all the app downloads within the country.
