In assessing 25,000 tweets compiled over twitter in the recent periods, Gene Munster, a renowned analyst at Piper Jaffray, found Apple’s products to be the most sought after Christmas gifts among twitter users. The most popular choices currently include iPhone, iPad, Macbook, and iPod, which rank first, third, fifth, and seventh, respectively. Second and forth on the list are the recently released PS4 and Xbox One consoles, while the Galaxy products from Apple’s Korean rival, Samsung, made it to ninth place.

The picture captured by twitter, granted, is far from representative of the entire consumer population, although sources like Appleinsider are quick to defend the sample’s usefulness by stating that it “represents a segment of the consumers who have enough tech savvy to operate a Twitter account.”

Munster, similarly, sees some potential use in the data collected from the social networking site.

“Although this doesn’t directly measure sales, we view the data as a positive, knowing that consumers continue to look to Apple products as the most desirable holiday gift,” Munster mentioned in his report.
