Kantar: Apple’s Losing Market Share to Rivals in US and China

7 Jan

Things do not look so good for Apple anymore; A recent set of data collected by Kantar Worldpanel in the three months ending November 30, 2013 showed that the Cupertino giant’s sales are not only slowing down, it is also losing ground to competing platforms such as Android and Windows 8. The countries and regions where Apple is supposedly getting bested by its rivals include Western Europe, China, US, and Australia, where iOS market share is spotted to have fallen by 6.5 %, 1.5 %, 9.9 %, and 0.5%, respectively.

Dominic Sunnebo, Kantar World Panel’s Strategic Insight Director, appears to have seen the trend coming, and is confident that Apple’s status decline will continue as competition grows more intense in the global smartphone market.

“While there’s no doubt that sales of the iPhone 5S and 5C have been strong, resurgent performances from LG, Sony, and Nokia have made making year-on-year share gains increasingly challenging for Apple,” Sunnebo said.
