New Lenovo Smartphones to Receive Design Input from Ashton Kutcher

Lenovo apparently isn’t content with merely having Ashton Kutcher being a celebrity spokesperson for the company’s products. In a recent interview with Re/Code, the Chinese company’s Chief Marketing Officer, David Roman, revealed that the star of “Two and a Half Man” will not only be playing a more significant role in promoting Lenovo’s upcoming smartphones, he will also be given the opportunity to influence the devices’ actual designs.

“I know on one level, it sounds corny, but it is real,” said Roman in the interview. “He not only sees himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer. If he sees a problem, he wants to solve it.”

According to Re/Code, Kutcher majored in biochemical engineering in the University of Iowa before deciding to pursue a path in acting and modeling. Hardware design is said to be one of Kutcher’s hidden passions that the actor had always wanted to pursue, but never had a chance to put to use.

“This partnership with Lenovo brings together my love of technology and design that makes your life better. I can’t wait to dig in and help Lenovo develop future mobile computing products,” Kutcher stated at one point during 2013, when promoting the company’s Yoga tablets.
