Chinese Smartphone Brands to Increase Shipments to Emerging Markets This Year

9 Mar

Chinese smartphone brands such as Huawei, Lenovo, Coolpad, ZTE, TCL communications, and Xiaomi will see their overseas sales expand as their presence in emerging markets grows more and more prominent and as the said companies intensify their focus on “commodity hardware”, the latest report from Barclays suggests.

As noted by Barclay’s main analyst, Ben Reitzes (via Business Insider)…

“We estimate 40% of the smartphone units from China makers…will be shipped to the overseas markets in 2014, up from 25% in 2013…The growth trend for China’s smartphone brands represents a structural shift in the global hardware landscape, as Asian companies gain share with commodity hardware and U.S./European companies increase their focus on software, applications, and the cloud services.”
