Being the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer and selling 52 million handsets worldwide are apparently just the beginning for Chinese smartphone company Huawei.

According to the recent comments made by CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Yu Cheng Dong, the company’s plans for 2014 involves generating as much as 50% more smartphone sales by the end of the year, and increasing worldwide exposure through “high quality end products that feature 4G/LTE functionality.”

“Our ultimate goal for 2014 is to ship as many as 80 million smartphone devices,” Yu mentioned at a company press event last week, reiterating what Huawei’s executive vice president, Colin Giles, expressed during the press conference at CES 2014.

Yu added later that Huawei will be seeking to expand its global market share from 4.8% to 8%-10%, and claimed that the company will eventually become the number 2 smartphone vendor in the world.
