It looks like Xiaomi has legitimate reasons to be confident about its smartphones’ market performance this year. According to a recent report released from Hong Kong-based research firm, Counterpoint Technology Market Research, two of Xiaomi’s major smartphone devices, the Mi 3 and Hongmi Redrice, are in the world’s top ten when it comes to the overall number of smartphone units sold during February.
The only other companies whose smartphone sales beat Xiaomi during the same month, not surprisingly, are Apple and Samsung. According to the data from Counterpoint, Apple’s iPhones accounted for nearly a third of February’s top ten list, with the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c at a respective first and second place. Samsung’s Galaxy S4, Note 3, S4 mini, S3, and S3 mini, on the other hand, took third, fourth, sixth, eighth, and ninth place, respectively.
Looking at Xiaomi, the company’s Hongmi Redrice—which took the Singapore market by storm last month and sold out in less than two minutes—grabbed seventh place, whereas the flagship Mi 3 ended at tenth place.
