HTC Chief Designer to Leave Company

27 Apr

Scott Croye, the Head of Design at HTC responsible for designing HTC’s One smartphone line, has announced recently that he’d be leaving the company for unspecified reasons, various sources say.

The majority of Croye’s duties will reportedly be assumed by Jonah Becker, who’s currently the second in command at the company’s design team. For the time being, Croye will not be leaving the company immediately, but will instead be taking on “a consultancy role for a few months to come” and helping the company design its next flagship phone, a number of sources told The Verge.

Despite Croye being the second high profile figure to depart HTC in recent months (the other was the company’s Public Relations chief, Lorain Wong, who left last October), HTC CEO Peter Chou does not appear to be overly worried, saying that the company is “not about one person.”
