Page views surge on Yahoo Mobile

The weekly mobile page views of Yahoo Taiwan’s mobile version have risen by 50 percent following a revamping of the search engine in early June, Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported.

Yahoo Taiwan’s new mobile version went online in June with a simplified page design, creating a constant stream of news articles and adding more popular videos.

Rising page views could further boost the company’s native advertising revenue from mobile devices, which already accounts for over half of the total, said Erika Wang, managing director of Yahoo Taiwan, at a media briefing.

The number of Yahoo Taiwan’s mobile users has increased from around 10 million per month in November last year to 12 million per month at present, trailing closely behind its PC users of 13 million, the company said.

Native advertising allows publishers and advertisers to deliver paid ads that are cohesive with the page content, assimilated into the design, and consistent with the platform behavior, so that the viewer feels the ads belong there.

Yahoo rolled out image-rich native ads in May 2014 that were designed to be “mobile-first.”

When users click on the ads, they can visit Yahoo’s site directly or view full-screen visuals “for even greater interactivity and impact,” according to the Central News Agency.
