This morning, Xiaomi’s official weibo announced that the new product release conference for its next smartphone will be held on September 27th. The main highlight of this conference is most likely the Xiaomi Mi 5S.

As the picture from above shows, there will be more than one new product release in this conference. Without any surprise, the Mi 5S Plus featuring the larger screen should be launched alongside the Mi 5S.

Every major media has exposed the specifications of these two flagship models. The Mi 5S will reportedly come with a 5.15- inch display, support 3D Touch, feature a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 821 processor as well as built-in 6GB LPDDR4 RAM, and offer 256GB UFS2.0 storage. It will also be equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera, 3490/3410mAh battery, and QC3.0 for quick charging.

Recent reports also suggest the device will come with an advanced USB Type-C port on its body, and feature support for dual sim /dual standby 4G across various networks as well as NFC.

In addition, the spy photos leaked from internet have shown that the Mi 5S Plus will be equipped with a 5.7 -inch dual curve display. The rest of its specifications are expected to be identical with the Mi 5S.

Lately, there have also been rumors suggesting that the Mi 5S will have a brand new built-in technology from Qualcomm known as ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology (“Under glass”). China’s Leiphone.com has already reported on this alleged news a while ago. This highly advanced technology from Qualcomm will reportedly make it easier for phones to include sensors by embedding them under a glass surface. If the rumor is true, then the Mi 5S will potentially become the first smartphone in the industry to adopt “Under glass” technology.
