Precision Metalforming Association Launches Online Learning Platform

19 Oct

The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) has launched a robust educational platform to help members and others take on the manufacturing industry skills gap. METALFORM EDU, with majority funding by the PMA Educational Foundation, is a unique, online learning-management system to help metalformers acquire the industry-specific skills they need to strengthen their own careers and push the industry forward.

METALFORM EDU is the next step in PMA’s longstanding efforts to assist manufacturers in recruiting and training a new generation of skilled workers. The platform is easy-to-access, low cost and available 24/7 online at www.pma.org/metalformedu.

“METALFORM EDU addresses our industry’s constant need to train existing and new employees,” said PMA President Roy Hardy. “With more than 500 training courses, from foundational to industry-related skills, METALFORM EDU will save companies time and money, providing the right training on the right platform, at the right time and the right price.”

METALFORM EDU courses cover a wide range of topics from core math, communication, safety and problem-solving to precision measurement, blueprint reading, SPC, CNC, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing and more.

At the time of the launch, the METALFORM EDU platform includes three PMA-specific programs:

  • Press Shop Operations Training
  • Die Setter Training
  • Lockout Tagout

METALFORM EDU’s library will provide new courses and be updated continuously by subject-matter experts.

“METALFORM EDU is a modern solution for an industry program,” continued Hardy. “PMA’s creation and launch of this platform is a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to helping our members and our industry recruit and retain a high-caliber workforce now and in the future.”
