WitsView, a division of TrendForce, reports that quotes for medium-size LCD TV panels (the 40- to 43-inch bracket) are weakening, dropping by US$1 on average this May compared with the prior month. The LCD TV panel market has been a seller’s market for almost a year and prices have consistently gone up. The weakening of quotes for medium-size panels is a signal that the general price upswing may have reached a limit. (more…)

TrendForce Reports First-Quarter Notebook Shipments Grew 6.1% Year on Year Against Seasonal Headwinds

Rising Costs of LED Packages Slowed Down Price Decline in LED Light Bulb Market During April, Says TrendForce

In April, the global average sales price (ASP) of 40-watt equivalent LED replacement light bulbs rose by 0.2% from the prior month to US$6.6, while the global ASP of 60-watt equivalent LED light bulbs fell by 0.2% from the prior month to US$8.1. Market intelligence firm TrendForce reports global tablet shipments for the first quarter of 2017 totaled 31.95 million units, representing a steep drop of 34.5% compared with the prior quarter and a year-on-year decline of 9.3%. Average Memory Content for Smartphones to Grow 33.4% Annually to Reach 3.2GB in 2017, Says TrendForce

The sharp upswing in prices of mobile DRAM products is expected to hold back the growth of average per device memory content for smartphones this year, says the market intelligence firm TrendForce. Furthermore, TrendForce has lowered the estimated average memory content of smartphones for 2017, from 3.7GB to 3.2GB. The revised average memory content figure represents an increase of 33.4% compared with the 2016 figure. (more…)
