Alibaba Aims to Work with Brands to Battle Counterfeiting

Alibaba said Friday it would establish an advisory board of brands and trade associations in order to safeguard intellectual property. According to a company spokesman, Alibaba will work with representatives from international brands and smaller enterprises in the U.S. and elsewhere to fight counterfeiting. Board members will serve rotating terms and meet for the first time in March. (more…)

Alibaba Sues

Alibaba is suing the Chinese website, which allegedly links merchants with people willing to falsify purchases and write positive comments that can drive sellers up in Alibaba’s rankings. That process is called “brushing.” The suit in Hangzhou is seeking 2.16 million yuan ($310,000).’s site is no longer online, instead redirecting to an e-commerce website. (more…)

Alibaba’s YunOS Gaining Popularity in China

Alibaba’s mobile operating system YunOS will have 14% of the Chinese market by the end of the year, making it the second-largest mobile OS in China after Google’s Android, the South China Morning Post reported.
