Android’s platform distribution numbers for December 2014 published

Google recently published Android’s platform distribution numbers for December 2014. The results showed that Android 4.4 KitKat, launched in 2013, enjoyed the greatest share increase, moving up by 5.2 percentage points from 33.9 percent to 39.1 percent. (more…)

Nokia rumored to release smartphone in January 2015

Toshiba said to increase production on Google LSI orders

Huawei to release smart TVs?

Xiaomi’s Mi TV isn’t about to be the only smart TV in China released by a major smartphone brand, it appears: Following rumors that Huawei would be releasing products other than traditional smartphones and telecom equipment, the Chinese company’s Business Unit Director, Liu Jeng Fung, made a confirmatory statement suggesting that his company, too, would be interested in developing a smart TV:

Research: Internet access from Android phones second most common

Android handsets have become the major devices for internet access in Taiwan that are only less popular than desktop computers, a Trend Micro survey found. The poll shows that 76.8% of the respondents surf the internet from desktops, 72.5% from Android smartphones, 50.2% from laptops, 32.3% from tablets, 15.4% from iPhones, and 3.1 % from Mac computers.
