TSMC Posts Second Highest Revenues in November; UMC Revenues Hit Three-month High

World-leading wafer foundry TSMC unveiled its November revenues on December 9, 2016. Thanks to strong sales performance in the semiconductor industry during the off-season, TSMC reported consolidated revenues of NT$93.03 billion for November, up by 2.1% on month and 46.6% on year. (more…)

Tencent Reports 43% Profit Increase in Third Quarter

Why did Casetek Just Report Its Worst Quarterly Earnings Ever?

Casetek Holdings, a metal casing supplier for MacBooks and iPads, reported its lowest quarterly earnings period to date Tuesday as the company’s bottom line was slammed by the delayed launch of the new MacBook Pro. Casetek’s net profit fell 77.4% year-on-year and 15.8% on a quarterly basis to NT$366 million (US$11.62 million) in the third quarter. (more…)

ASE Group Realized NT $1.79 EPS for First Three Quarters in 2016, Projected Decline in 4Q16

Taiwanese independent semiconductor assembling and test manufacturer ASE Group announced its Q316 earnings on October 27. According to the financial results, the company’s consolidated revenue income rose to NT $72.7 billion (US $2.29 billion), which represents an increase of 11% compared to the previous quarter, and growth of 13% year on year (YoY). The gross margin almost remained unchanged at 19.4%, which is very similar to that of 19.6% in 2Q16 but slightly higher than 3Q15’s 17.8%. (more…)

The company managed to crush Wall Street estimates even after the confirmation of the massive 2015 hack, and it obliging a request from U.S intelligence officials to scan user e-mails without permission. FIH Mobile Limited Warns of 52% Drop in Net Profit for 2016 Compared to 2015

According to the net profit warning released by FIH Mobile Limited, the subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. at Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing (HKEX) on October 3rd, it is expected that the amount of profit earned by the company in 2016 will be less than USD $110 Million (equivalent of NTD$ 3.445 Billion) (more…)
