Japan to Build the World’s Fastest Supercomputer That Could Make 130 Quadrillion Calculations Per Second

In June 2016, Sunway Taihulight, China’s supercomputer that incorporates Chinese chip replaced Tianhe-2 and topped the latest supercomputer rankings among 500 supercomputers. Tianhe-2 makes 930 quadrillion calculation per second, outperforming U.S.A. Japan has been falling behind the the supercomputer competition for years, urging them to value the development of supercomputer again. (more…)

Toshiba’s New Transistor Arrays Have Data Storage Function

Toshiba Corporation’s Storage & Electronic Devices Solutions Company today announced the launch of “TBD62089APG”, a new-generation transistor array for applications such as LED lighting for amusement equipment and high voltage signal transmitters for industrial equipment. The new IC incorporates D-type Flip Flop circuits (8 bit type) in the input part that support a data storage function. Sample shipments start today with mass production scheduled to start at the end of December 2016. (more…)

Mitsubishi Electric Develops World’s First Automated Design Deep-learning Algorithm

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced today that it has developed what it believes is the world’s first Automated Design Deep Learning Algorithm to automatically design deep-learning structures for the fast, low-cost development of artificial intelligence (AI) systems, without the input of specialized professionals, which can be adapted to diverse user environments and devices. Japanese Media: The Recovery of Taiwan IT Industry Comes to a Halt

As The Nikkei reported, the sales recovery of Taiwan IT industry is up in the air based on the financial reports released in July. The Nikkei calculated the July revenue of 19 key IT companies in Taiwan and discovered 3.2% year on year decreases in their total revenue compared to 2015, which indicated that annual growth rate is declining for 9 consecutive months.
