Toshiba Launches Multi-Function System Power IC for SSD

Toshiba Corporation’s Storage & Electronic Devices Solutions Company today launched “TC7738WBG,” a multi-function system power IC suited for the power supply of SSD components, such as the SoC core block, IO blocks, NAND flash memory, DRAM, and various sensors. Sample shipments start today with mass production shipments scheduled for the end of January next year. (more…)

Toshiba Raises 1st-Half Profit Forecast on Higher NAND Demand

TrendForce Reports NAND Flash Revenue Fell 2.3% in 4Q15 as Oversupply Led to Falling Prices

Set against the prior quarter, the contract prices of NAND Flash memory chips fell by 9~10% in the fourth quarter of 2015 as the market experienced oversupply. Prices of eMMC and SSD products also fell by 10~11% quarterly due to shipments of OEM devices – such as smartphones, tablets and notebooks – being weaker than expected in the same period. (more…)

China’s NAND Flash industry witnessed a steady growth in investments through 2015. As Chinese semiconductor companies build up their memory manufacturing capabilities at the wafer level, they are also beginning to pay greater attention to the production of controller chips for memory products.
