China’s government-backed Tsinghua UNIS purchases controlling stake in HP China’s unit

U.S. company Hewlett-Packard Co. disclosed in its latest earnings report on May 21 that its network equipment firm H3C Technologies Co. and HP China’s server, data-storage and technology-services businesses were to be merged into a new entity. HP also announced that Tsinghua Holdings under Tsinghua Unisplendour Corporation Limited (UNIS) will purchase 51 percent of the shares in the new entity for US$2.3 billion.  (more…)

Daimler and Qualcomm Announce Strategic Collaboration on Connected Car Technologies

Today, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), and Daimler AG announced a strategic collaboration focused on pioneering innovation in the connected car. In the first phase of the collaboration, the companies will focus on transforming future vehicles with mobile technologies that enhance in-car experiences and vehicle performance such as 3G/4G connectivity, wireless charging technology for in-vehicle use and implementation of the Qualcomm Halo™ Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) technology. Qualcomm Initiates $5.0 Billion Accelerated Share Repurchase

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that it has entered into accelerated share repurchase agreements (ASR Agreements) with two financial institutions to repurchase an aggregate of $5.0 billion of Qualcomm’s common stock, with an initial delivery of approximately 57.7 million shares. The final number of shares to be repurchased will be based on the volume-weighted average stock price of Qualcomm’s common stock during the term of the transaction, less a discount and subject to adjustments pursuant to the terms and conditions of the ASR Agreements. The Company is funding the accelerated share repurchase with proceeds from its recently completed $10.0 billion debt offering. (more…)

(NASDAQ: MRVL), a global leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that after sixteen years with Marvell, Mike Rashkin has expressed his intention to retire as chief financial officer, a role that he has held since December 2013. Mr. Rashkin served the Company in a variety of senior roles since 1999 and has been a key contributor to the success of the company since its formation.
