TSMC said to take two thirds of A9 orders

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the largest chip foundry in the world, will reportedly receive two thirds or more of the A9 chip orders from Apple, according to EETimes.com. The report cited unnamed industry sources from South Korea who claim TSMC’s 16nm process has a better yield rate than Samsung’s 14nm technology. This reportedly prompted Apple to re-distribute its chip orders to the Taiwanese company, the report claimed. (more…)

Alibaba rumored to add music service company to its entertainment business

Alibaba will reportedly continue its expansion in the entertainment industry by merging its mobile music service, TTPod, with its major music streaming site, Xiami, according to sources familiar with the matter. Korean media: Samsung to make SSDs for MacBook Air
