According to the latest investigations by DRAMeXchange , a division of TrendForce , although the US and China have reopened trade negotiations, US server-related imports from China still face a 25% tariff, thus server ODMs will still add production lines in Taiwan as scheduled to avoid risks. North American Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such as AWS and Microsoft have already begun requesting collaborating ODMs to move their L6 (Level 6) server production lines to Taiwan to avoid potential tariff costs, whereas production plans for products shipped to non-US regions will remain as is. NOTS Solar Lamps to Invest USD 70 million in Solar Home Systems Manufacturing and Retailing in Rwanda

NOTS Solar Lamps – an impact enterprise – and the Government of Rwanda has announced a landmark deal that will accelerate the provision of electricity to the lowest income families in the country. NOTS will invest USD 70m over five years in a manufacturing facility for Solar Home Systems (SHS) – the first in Africa – a microloan credit scheme and marketing infrastructure and programs. SHS are recognized by the United Nations and World Bank as an essential technology in the effort to provide rural families with electricity, ending energy poverty and enhancing life opportunities. In another first the factory will build the ‘Mutimax’ SHS to a price point of USD 56 – roughly half that of current SHS – affordable for even the lowest income families. In return, the Government of Rwanda will purchase 100,000 units valued at USD 5.6m. Continue reading

CNIM Designs and Validates the Rotation System That Will Enable the StratobusTM Airship to Operate Autonomously for up to One Year

Stratobus TM is an 85,000 cu. m airship designed to operate at an altitude of 20 km, in the lower layer of the stratosphere. Equipped with four electric motors powered by solar panels during the day and batteries at night, the vehicle is fully autonomous from an energy perspective and is able to remain on station for a full year. Under ideal conditions, it can carry a 250 – 450 kg payload. Stationed just above air traffic and considerably closer to earth than a satellite, Stratobus TM is designed to perform civilian and defense missions in areas such as telecommunications, surveillance, observation and navigation.
